Amit Dixit, Founder and Executive Director, South Asian Arts Council was Born in Jaipur India. Amit Dixit came to the Boston with his parents in 1973 and grew up in the neighborhood of Jamaica Plain. Amit has combined his respect for his native culture and his entrepreneurial spirit to establish the South Asian Arts Council and strives to bring communities together through innovative arts programming.
Amit has developed and managed programs for digital conversion services and served on the boards of nonprofit organizations including Map for Health, GLAD, The History Project, and the Boston LGBT Film Festival.
By Expanding his networks he has connected new and broader audiences through strategic fundraising, event management, and online marketing strategies. In 2012, Amit created history by launching the first Diwali lighting in Boston. The honorable Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick participated heralding this marquee event celebrating the achievements of the South Asian community, bringing its cultural traditions to Massachusetts’ diverse communities.
Amits’s causes and interests include supporting various communities; support for the LGBT communities, working with the Nepalese diaspora, restoration of the ISKON Temple in Boston, and exposing Bostonians to the amazing culture of India and South Asia through events and programs.
