Dr.Venkat Maroju is Chief Executive Officer of SourceTrace Systems, a pioneer and global leader in developing mobile applications for sustainable agriculture and allied sectors in developing economies. SourceTrace has provided solutions in rural areas of three different Continents (Asia, Africa, South America), and has offices in USA, India, Costa Rica and Bangladesh where technology experts and sustainable agriculture professionals work together. It is reaches out to more than 300,000 farmers and expected to reach 10 Million farmers by 2020. Dr. Maroju has rich and diverse experience in technology leadership, having worked with well-known global corporations like Bose Corporation and ComauPICO. He blends this expertise with extensive grassroots-level experience with social enterprises in developing countries; micro-finance institutions, farmers’ cooperatives, sustainable agriculture, rural supply chain and renewable energy. Prior to joining SourceTrace, he founded Factum Ventures, a holding company in India that set up and promoted new business ventures in sustainable agriculture, microfinance and renewable energy. He was a Sloan Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and also holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia, a Masters in Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Osmania University College of Engineering, Hyderabad.
