Sameer Pitalwalla, a graduate of University of Westminster co-founded Culture Machine, India’s largest digital media company, in early 2013 along with Venkat Prasad with a vision to create an engaging digital video company that creates entertainment for the internet generation.
Culture Machine is the new generation digital video company for the internet generation; a team of creative young entrepreneurs who have cracked the code of making things go viral over the internet. “Viral” might be the most used term in the digital world where, everybody asks for it, everybody wants to be doing it but they have no idea how. With an aim to create, nurture and amplify Youtube/Digital talent for the internet generation, Culture Machine is your one-stop shop for the big ideas, relevant creators, strategic programming and brilliant technology. Within a short span of four years, the company has grown to become India’s largest digital media company harnessing some of the best talent in the country and creating thought-provoking and topical content.
Prior to the inception of Culture Machine, Sameer headed the digital media business at Disney UTV and has also been the one responsible to setup and build the digital video business at the Times Group.
While working with the Times Group, Sameer built the video business there with the launch of the first YouTube channel in the country and made it no.1 in terms of viewership for three years. During his stint with Disney UTV, Sameer was responsible for building the digital media business for the entertainment channels in the company’s broadcasting portfolio, the mobile app business as well as getting all of Disney’s properties to leadership positions in social media.
In their journey so far, Culture Machine have risen to being the next generation scientists of digital video entertainment, infusing creators, content and brands to develop a culture par excellence. They have been creating quality content that covers content in every genre, from Music, Comedy, News, Beauty, Lifestyle, Makeup and much more, reaching out to tens of millions of viewers every month and hitting the right chord with audiences with every new video they release.
According to Sameer, digital medium has evolved to have a rich dialogue with its consumers making it the most important tool for brand communication. To create state of the art digital video productions for brands and consumers alike by identifying and engaging with the right audience has been the purpose of building Culture Machine and Sameer has indeed influenced generations of South Asian audiences with cutting edge storytelling.
