Sanjoy Chakravorty is Professor of Geography and Urban Studies at Temple University and Visiting Fellow at the Center for the Advanced Study of India at the University of Pennsylvania. His current research focuses on theoretical and empirical work on India, inequality, and epistemology. He also writes fiction. Professor Chakravorty has authored over fifty academic papers and chapters, and six books. The latest is a collaborative work on the Indian diaspora—The Other One Percent: Indians in America (2016). Other recent books include his first novel, The Promoter (2015), and The Price of Land: Acquisition, Conflict, Consequence (2013), which was shortlisted for the Crossword Prize. He is finishing the manuscript of a new book (The Truth About India: The Simplification of Social Reality from Manu to Modi, forthcoming in 2018) and editing two new volumes (Colossus: The Anatomy of Delhi and The Politics and Economics of Land in India). Professor Chakravorty writes occasional op-eds for The Indian Express, The Hindu, and Anandabazar Patrika.
