Kiruba Munusamy is an advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India. She is striving for social justice by eliminating all forms of discriminations, oppressions and inequalities in the society through her judicial activism. She is working against various human rights violation in India, in particular, caste-based discrimination, caste-based atrocities, violence against Dalit women, intersection of caste and gender.
Through her activism she works for the annihilation of caste and supports Dalit women empowerment, indigenous rights, LGBTQI rights, minorities, advancement of disadvantaged groups, and freedom of expression. She has filed several public interest litigations before the Indian courts of law to bring judicial intervention to the issues of violation of rights. Apart from the legal framework, she organizes and conducts awareness campaigns and workshops to educate the oppressed communities about their fundamental human rights and legal remedies upon violation.
Now, Kiruba is setting up ‘Legal Initiative For Equality’ to train young lawyers from the marginalized backgrounds and to defend the legal cause of the outcastes.
