Boomaku Murali is a technocrat and social & political activist turned movie maker based in Hyderabad. His first movie “Saranam Gacchami” released in April, 2017 deals with the topic of reservations in India. This movie was initially denied censor certification and after protests and pressure from civil society, it was approved. The movie is also available in Tamil and Hindi languages.
The movie is about a journalism scholar who researches on reservation policies, factors affecting their implementation and their outcomes and notices that the plight of the marginalized and oppressed classes for whom they were proposed didn’t yield desired fruits. He along with his guide’s, guidance formulates What the hurdles are and how to get the desired changes form the rest of the movie.
Murali is in the planning stages two more movies, one of them will become a sequel to the “Saranam Gacchami”.
Murali has been in active politics since student days starting with NSUI. Recently he contested for Telangana legislative assembly from Secunderabad Cantonment constituency from Bahujan Samaj Party. Earlier he was in Congress party.
Earlier, Murali worked for leading technology companies such as IBM, HP, HCLT and ONGC and held managerial positions from 1996 – 2008.
Murali has bachelor’s degree in computer science from Osmania University College of Engineering, Hyderabad.
