Gopal Subramanium is a Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India. In 1993, he was designated Senior Advocate suo moto by the Supreme Court, one of the youngest in India’s history to receive the designation. Gopal served as Solicitor General of India from 2009 to 2011, during which period he was also Chairman of the Bar Council of India. From 2005 to 2009, he served as Additional Solicitor General of India. He is also an Associate Member and Arbitrator with 3 Verulam Buildings Chambers, London, and a Judge at the Qatar International Court.
In 2009, Gopal was conferred the National Law Day Award for Outstanding Jurist by the President of India.
Last fall, Gopal was unanimously elected an Honorary Master of the Bench by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn, London, and presently remains the only Indian to serve as a ‘Bencher’.
