Nirav Bajaj, a Mechanical Engineer by education, spent time consulting at Bain & Company & Roland Berger in India followed by joining Hercules Hoist Ltd (HHL). He knew the importance of working outside the family business to learn various best practices. He is currently studying at Harvard Business School, expected to graduate in 2019.
Hercules Hoist is India’s largest Hoist manufacturer with close to 45% market share. Nirav was instrumental in building their crane division by launching new products and revamping the sales team. Nirav also helped spearhead Hercules Hoist’s implementation of Theory of Constraints.
Nirav is part of the Bajaj Group, which recently ranked as the 3rd largest family business in India. The Group has businesses in financial services, automobiles, electric home appliances, steel and cranes. Ethics and philanthropy are engrained in the family DNA which is seen in their fair business practices and various non-profit organizations. These values have been successfully passed down through 5 generations as a result of strong beliefs by the founding fathers and their close relationship with Mahatma Gandhi, who considered Nirav’s great grandfather, Jamnalal Bajaj, as his 5th son.
