Tashi and Nungshi Malik have achieved several global gender iconic milestones. In 2013 barely 21 years old, they became world’s first female twins to scale Mt Everest. What’s more, ‘within just two years from that feat they successfully scaled highest peaks in all continents and skied to North and South Poles, becoming world’s first siblings and twins, as well as first and only South Asians to complete the ‘Adventurers Grand Slam’. At that time they were also world’s youngest persons to achieve it. They have as many Asian and National records to their credit. They are also world’s first female twins to climb Mt Cook, New Zealand’s tallest peak and a virgin peak at 21000 ft in Indian Himalayas.
In 2016 they were awarded India’s highest adventure recognition, the ‘Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award from the President of India and ‘Leif Eriksson Young Explorer Award’ from President of Iceland.
They are brand ambassadors of Uttarakhand state Adventure sports, State Icon for India’s next General elections and Brand Ambassadors of Mountain Hardwear, a top American manufacturer of adventure gear and subsidiary of Columbia Sports. Most recently they have been awarded Edmund Hillary Fellowship for Global Impact visa from New Zealand.
