Widely recognized as India’s most sought after Political Strategist, Prashant Kishor is a former UN Official who worked in the area of Public Health and Strategic Planning. Credited with revolutionizing election-campaigning in India, he has successfully created a structured platform for young professionals to meaningfully contribute to electoral politics.
Prashant’s first major political stint was in 2012 when he helped Narendra Modi, the then Chief Minister of Gujarat, win a third term in office. Subsequently roped in as the key-architect of his Prime Ministerial campaign, Prashant brought together a team of young professionals under the umbrella of Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG), and together with them delivered the much talked about avant-garde campaign, that led to Modi’s resounding victory in the Indian General Elections 2014.
Barely a year later, the erstwhile CAG regrouped as the Indian Political Action Committee (I- PAC) and under Prashant’s mentorship, crafted Nitish Kumar’s campaign strategy for Bihar State Elections, handing a crushing defeat to the Modi led BJP. In 2017, in the state of Punjab with Prashant and I-PAC at the helm of the campaign, Congress party secured its first major electoral victory in the last 5 years, defeating the incumbent BJP-SAD alliance and a much formidable challenger in the name of AAP.
With a string of wins and successful mentoring of young professionals (first CAG, then I-PAC) Prashant strives to continue opening up both politics and governance to young professionals. Presently, Prashant and I-PAC are working with Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSR Congress Party for Andhra Pradesh Elections due in 2019. Prashant has joined the Janata Dal United (JDU) in Bihar and has been recently appointed as the National Vice President of the party.
