Siddharth Aggarwal is a criminal lawyer in India with two decades of practice in the Supreme Court of India, Delhi High Court and Trial Courts at New Delhi. His areas of specialization include white collar crimes such as corruption, fraud, money laundering, securities fraud, improper accounting practices and other misconduct. He has represented domestic and foreign clients in some of the most sensitive, complex and far-ranging corruption cases in India. These include acting for the defense in the 2G Spectrum Cases (CBI – Delhi), the Commonwealth Games Scam Cases, Coal Scam prosecutions (CBI – Delhi), Devas ISRO dispute and, the AgustaWestland Scam Case (CBI – Delhi).
Siddharth has also conducted prosecutions in several significant cases. He served as a member of the special prosecutorial team set up for the Parliament Attack Case, one of the most elaborate cases of trans-national terrorism in Indian history. He was appointed as a prosecutor by the Rajya Sabha (Upper House of the Indian Parliament) for impeachment of a High Court Judge under the Judge’s Inquiry Act.
Siddharth is an alumnus of the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. Drawing on his extensive experience in criminal litigation, he has actively participated in criminal law reform. He has served as an expert member frequently called upon by the Law Commission of India for inputs on criminal law and had extensively assisted in its 258th Report titled, ‘Prevention of Bribery of Foreign Public Officials and Officials of Public International Organisations—A Study and Proposed Amendments.’ He has been appointed as amicus curiae in several cases involving issues of criminal justice including reform in the law on child sexual abuse and bail reform.
